Benefits of upgrading

Energy efficiency upgrades deliver measurable improvements for both residential and commercial properties.

Lower Energy Bills

Energy efficiency upgrades help reduce heat loss and improve system performance, lowering long-term energy costs.

Improved Comfort

Better insulation and heating systems create a warmer, more comfortable indoor environment year round.

Better EPC Ratings

Energy improvements can increase a property’s EPC rating and support compliance with modern energy standards.

Lower Carbon Impact

Reducing energy consumption helps cut carbon emissions and supports the transition toward net zero buildings.

Air source vs Ground source heat pump

heat pump.jpg

Both air source and ground source heat pumps work by capturing natural energy from their surroundings and using it to heat your home efficiently. The key difference lies in where that energy is sourced.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

Air source systems extract heat from the outside air, even in low temperatures. Installed externally, they operate similarly to a refrigerator in reverse, transferring ambient heat into your home to provide consistent heating and hot water.

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)

Ground source systems extract heat from beneath the ground via a network of buried pipes. Because underground temperatures remain stable throughout the year, these systems can deliver higher efficiency and consistent performance, particularly during colder months.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a UK Government grant that helps cover the cost of installing low-carbon heating systems, such as air source and ground source heat pumps. Eligible properties can receive up to £7,500 towards installation, making it more affordable to move away from traditional gas or oil heating systems.

How RetroServe Supports You:
RetroServe helps guide the process from start to finish, ensuring your property is suitable, the right system is specified, and the project meets all funding requirements. We work with trusted delivery partners to ensure installations are completed efficiently, compliantly, and to a high standard.

Who It’s For:

The scheme is available to homeowners, landlords, and small business properties, subject to eligibility criteria such as having a valid EPC and replacing an existing fossil fuel system.

Insulation Systems

Reduce heat loss. Improve performance. Build energy-efficient properties. Insulation is the foundation of any effective retrofit strategy.

By improving the building fabric, heat is retained, energy demand is reduced, and long-term performance is significantly enhanced. At RetroServe, we deliver scalable insulation solutions across residential, commercial, and local authority projects, supporting both standalone upgrades and full retrofit programmes.

How Retroserve can help?

Loft Insulation
High-performance insulation within roof spaces to prevent heat loss and improve thermal efficiency.

Cavity Wall Insulation
Injection-based systems that fill wall cavities, reducing heat loss through external walls without structural disruption.

External Wall Insulation (EWI)
Full external systems that enhance thermal performance while improving the building’s external finish and protection.

Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)
Internal insulation solutions for properties where external works are not suitable, improving efficiency from within.

Floor Insulation
Thermal upgrades to reduce heat loss through ground floors, improving comfort and energy performance.

Key Benefits:

☑️ Reduced energy bills and long-term cost savings

☑️ Improved EPC ratings and compliance
☑️ Lower carbon emissions

☑️ Enhanced indoor comfort and temperature stability
☑️ Long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance

RetroServe delivers insulation at scale, supporting local authority housing programmes, social housing upgrades, ECO4, GBIS and Warm Homes Plan 2026 initiatives, as well as multi-property and portfolio-wide delivery.
